When a consumer of any goods or services is supplied defective goods or is rendered deficient services, he may maintain a legal action against the supplier of said defective goods / deficient services, before a specially constituted Consumer Courts. When these Consumer Courts were not in existent, the Consumers could have maintained legal action before Civil Courts in the form of Suits, the remedy which is complex, time consuming and expensive. The proceedings before Consumer Courts are summary in nature, simple, inexpensive, and may result in quicker disposal of a case (in theory).
